Prince Harry and Prince William have suffered a new loss after the death of a close friend of the Royal Family, Dame Shan Legge-Bourke, at the age of 82.
Prince William and Prince Harry’s close friend and the mother of their childhood nanny has died at the age of 82.
Dame Shan Legge-Bourke, who was also Princess Anne’s lady in waiting and a longtime confidante of the Royal Family, died peacefully at home surrounded by her children, it was announced on Monday.

Legge-Bourke is believed to have struck up a close relationship with William and Harry when they were children.
She was also considered to be one of the few people in Princess Anne’s inner circle and accompanied Harry, Queen Elizabeth II, and Queen Camilla on several official engagements.
During their childhood, William and Harry were regular visitors at Legge-Bourke’s Glanusk estate in Wales with their much-loved nanny, Tiggy Pettifer. It is here that they are believed to have formed a lifelong friendship.
Tiggy, 60, was Legge-Bourke’s eldest child, followed by Zara Gordon Lennox, 59, and Harry Legge-Bourke, 53.
Her family paid tribute to her on Monday in a statement announcing her death.
“We are devastated to lose our mother. She was an inspiration to us all, and to many people she met over her years of service to Wales, and the countless organisations and institutions she supported.
