Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth testified on Capitol Hill on Wednesday as President Donald Trump weighed joining Israel in strikes on Iran. Besides deflecting questions on Trump’s plans, Hegseth clashed with Democrats on the Senate Armed Services Committee over issues including renaming military bases and deploying troops to U.S. cities to tamp down protests. Trump later attended a swearing-in ceremony for Charles Kushner as ambassador to France. Kushner, whom Trump pardoned in 2020, is the father of Trump’s son-in-law, Jared Kushner.
