Behind Palace Doors: Meghan Markle and the Secret That Could Change Everything…Full details
Rumors have once again surfaced suggesting Meghan Markle may hold evidence to back up past allegations against the Royal Family, but a leading royal commentator believes any potential disclosures would now have little effect.
The Duchess of Sussex has previously hinted at having documentation to support claims she and Prince Harry made after stepping back from royal duties in 2020.
Those allegations, shared through their 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, their Netflix docuseries, Harry’s memoir Spare, and more recent interviews, included claims of conversations about their son Archie’s skin tone and accusations that Meghan’s mental health struggles were ignored by the institution.
Speculation over hidden evidence
Speaking on The Royal Exclusive show, royal analyst Jack Royston discussed long-standing rumors that Meghan has held onto material that could validate the couple’s experiences.
There’s always been this thing that Meghan’s kind of intimated that she’s got receipts,” Royston said. “That was in the days after Oprah – one of her friends went on ITV and said, ‘we’ve got the receipts to prove everything.’
“There was a point where she was giving an interview and she said, ‘I’ve never signed anything, so I can say whatever I want’. She’s always had this tendency to give these slightly veiled threats that she’s sitting on this bombshell.”
Reports have even suggested the Sussexes may have uncovered personal diaries from their time within the royal fold, adding to the belief that they possess information that could be damaging if released.
Despite the lingering intrigue, Royston believes the environment has shifted drastically since the couple’s first major revelations.
“The problem is with the way Harry and Meghan piled in quite relentlessly on the royals,” he said. “Particularly, I do think the Oprah interview, they did botch it… it could have been done differently and better in a way that would be less toxic and destructive.”
He added that the racism allegation from the Oprah interview had already been partially retracted or reframed, weakening its initial impact. More importantly, Royston argued that public sentiment toward the Sussexes has changed.
