Marco Rubio’s uncomfortable expression during Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s tense Oval Office showdown has sent the internet into a frenzy
The tense shouting match that erupted over the future of the Russia-Ukraine war left Secretary of State Rubio sinking into the couch, much to the amusement of dozens on X.

‘It’s like when Mommy & Daddy are arguing at the dinner table,’ one user commented on X, as the photo of Rubio circled the internet.

‘The contrast in body language between Vance and Rubio here,’ another user pointed out.

As tempers flared on all sides of the office amid the showdown, Trump laid into Ukraine’s president and warned he was ‘gambling with World War III.’
High school kid in the principal’s office,’ another joked, as Rubio seemed to wish he were anywhere else.

Caught amid the shouting match, Rubio’s demeanor had one user suggesting: ‘He’s like, “We’re so in the middle of this.”‘

Another commented that Rubio would much rather be swallowed into the couch to escape from the heated conversations and added: ‘Rubio thinking “if only this couch was a hedgerow”.’

He couldn’t sink further into the sofa,’ another wrote.

His expression of doom and gloom has users asking, ‘Was it worth it, little Marco?’

‘Rubio sold his soul for a fancy title, once called Trump a con, now he’s a lapdog. Spineless,’ another user declared.
Rubio, meanwhile, was watching the leaders at each other’s throats with Trump threatening to abandon Ukraine completely if Zelensky didn’t agree to his peace terms and accused him of being ungrateful.

Both men were on the defensive as they tried to talk over one another. At one point, Ukraine’s ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, who was seated to the side in the Oval, buried her face in her hands.

Rubio, however, took to X and commended the President for his firm stance and courage.
Thank you @POTUS [President Trump] for standing up for America in a way that no President has ever had the courage to do before. Thank you for putting America First. America is with you!,’ he wrote.

After the contentious showdown, Trump announced he asked Zelensky to leave.

‘It’s amazing what comes out through emotion, and I have determined that President Zelenskyy is not ready for Peace if America is involved, because he feels our involvement gives him a big advantage in negotiations. I don’t want advantage, I want PEACE. He disrespected the United States of America in its cherished Oval Office. He can come back when he is ready for Peace,’ he said in a post on Truth Social.
