Wiz Khalifa Announces Father Laurence’s ‘Sudden’ Death at 63 with Heartfelt Tribute: ‘I Will Always Love Him’
Wiz Khalifa announced the “sudden” death of his father.
On Friday, Feb. 13, the rapper, born Cameron Jibril Thomaz, announced on X that his father, Laurence W. Thomaz, had died. Khalifa, 38, shared that his father’s death was “sudden.” He died at the age of 63, according to TMZ.
“Today my father decided not to wake up,” Khalifa wrote. “I will always love him, miss him and be greatful for the things he taught me.”
“He went on like a true yogi, at peace and on his own time. I love you forever Laurence W. Thomaz,” he added.
The “Black and Yellow” rapper shared on X that the last conversation he had with Thomaz was about “the movie i was in and I promised him I would do more.”
Khalifa is set to star in the upcoming crime drama Moses the Black, which follows a gangster living in Chicago who seeks vengeance over the murder of his closest friend.
Khalifa went on to thank his followers for the support he’s received in this “tough time.” “Thank you all for your kind words. It really means a lot… and is helping me feel better,” he continued on X.
